DESCRIPTION:\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nDexter is a caring community\; this is exemplifi
 ed by one resident’s mission to help orphaned elephants.  Helen Weingar
 ten\, has supported the care and rehabilitation of elephants for many year
 s.  In this slideshow presentation\, Helen shares her experiences with or
 phan elephants rescued and cared for by the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and r
 ehabilitation program in Kenya - bottle feeding 1 year old orphan Mutara r
 escued by the Trust as a newborn in 2009 and living in the Trust’s nurse
 ry in Nairobi and\, in 2023\, observing 14-year-old Mutara with her 1-year
 -old baby Mambo\, now living in the wild.\n\nAbout the presenter:\n\nHelen
  Weingarten is an Associate Professor Emerita of Social Work at the Univer
 sity of Michigan School of Social work. Her contributions to social work r
 eflect a commitment to core values entwined in the discipline— problem-s
 olving\, connection\, integration\, relationship. “I’ve always thought
  of ‘career’ in terms of contributing to the world\,” she says. “I
 t never occurred to me to enter a non-helping profession.”\n\nThis progr
 am will be in the Library’s lower-level meeting room. Families are welco
