DESCRIPTION:\n\nThis presentation is a science-based look at the state of t
 he issues and impacts involved in climate change\, localized in many ways 
 to Michigan and metro Detroit. It explores a range of ideas to address the
  significant challenges we face\, including what each of us can do.\n\nChr
 is Edwards\, broadcast and digital meteorologist\, discusses the science\,
  data\, and the causes and effects of "freaky weather" occurrences. He wil
 l explain the polar vortex\, forest fires\, hurricanes\, severe rain and s
 nowstorms\, the Gulf Stream\, and the Great Lakes region. Shedding a posit
 ive light on the issue\, Edwards also discusses plastics\, carbon dioxide\
 , electric cars\, auto emissions\, and provides recommendations on how we 
 all can make a difference.\n\nAbout the presenter:\n\nChris Edwards bega
 n his career as a forecaster in the U.S. Air Force. He was then one of the
  first meteorologists with The Weather Channel in Atlanta\, before movin
 g on to forecast at WISN-TV in Milwaukee\, and KYW-TV in Philadelphia. He 
 began carefully studying and reporting on "global warming" in 1987.\n\nEdw
 ards was Chief Meteorologist at WJBK-FOX2 for 15 years and a broadcast and
  digital meteorologist at WXYZ-TV for over 10 years.\n\nHe was honored wit
 h 3 Emmy awards\, for environmental reporting and weathercasting\, as we
 ll as recognition from the Michigan Chapter of the National Association of
  Television Arts and Sciences for Best Weathercast in 1999\, 2001\, 2002\
 , 2003 and 2004.\n\nAs a retired TV meteorologist\, he now enjoys part-ti
 me work at the University of Michigan\, where he recently collaborated wit
 h Professor Richard Rood to produce a video on climate change. Edwards als
 o serves as the Climate Change Specialist for the city of Detroit\, and re
 gularly gives climate change presentations to libraries and professional o
